| Breast Cancer Ribbon Dress 2006 Concept Drawing
The Breast Cancer Ribbon Dress 2006 was created by Kate as a way to use her love of fashion to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer. The focal point of the dress is a large breast cancer ribbon/sash, which makes up the bodice and extends to the back of the dress. Small breast cancer ribbons will be attached to the sash. When the sash is completely covered with breast cancer ribbons, it will be added to the nude fabric to complete the dress design. A pink satin breast cancer ribbon will accent the back of the dress. Rose colored pink satin pleats add the finish to the bottom of the dress.

Breast Cancer Ribbon Dress 2006 Under Construction
These photos show the work in progress to create the Breast Cancer Ribbon Dress 2006. The ribbons are hand-made, inscribed, accented with the appropriate embellishments, and then attached to the sash. Once the large breast cancer ribbon has been completely covered with smaller ribbons, it will be affixed to the dress, finishing the design. It will take nearly 600 mini breast cancer ribbons to complete the sash. To date, I've collected over 170 ribbon donations. So I still need over 400 ribbons to finish! If you'd like to help with a ribbon donation, please visit our Make A Ribbon Donation page for details on how you can honor someone by adding their name to a ribbon on the dress.
